We are currently looking for an experienced Front-end engineer to be in charge of the Front-end app of Data platform in Barcelona. As a member of the Data team, you will join our journey as we discover how to build state of the art data processing solutions for Adevtina, with emphasis on both volume, velocity and privacy.
The event data we collect from all Adevinta sites around the world is essential to our business – including feeding marketplaces with low-latency (“realtime”) updates, visitor insights analysis and targeted advertisement. We are solving exciting problems at scale, from gathering up to 900 million events per day worldwide while keeping users privacy and data security in mind.

Responsibilities
– Invent: identify hidden areas of improvement in any process or system, including changing established rules or procedures
– Create: lead the creation of data processing services and exploration tools
– Protect: improve the reliability and availability of Adevinta systems by gathering hard data, designing systems and creating or adapting code for increased service reliability and performance
– Survey: Implement monitoring solutions enabling production systems to be monitored 24/7
– Share: Share knowledge and provide expert advice to Adevinta engineers as to how to best use the data platform tools as well as providing answers to their engineering needs, fostering a mixed development and operations culture
Main requirements
– Excellent experience in web development for both desktop and mobile platforms
– Expert in HTML5 and CSS3. Sass or any equivalent CSS pre-processor (less, nextCss, stylus)
– Good knowledge of JavaScript. In time, you should become a JS expert
– Experience with React or any JavaScript MVC framework
– Use of dev-tools (profiling and debugging)
– GIT
– Experience with Agile methodologies
– High comfort level working in a multi-disciplinary team
– Understanding of web performance
– Good level of English (working language)
Nice to have
– Strong knowledge of JavaScript
– Use of ES6 syntax, including async new features
– Knowledge of functional programming and OOP with its common design patterns
– Tools and libraries like Babel, Webpack and Redux
